Dartmouth Community Concert Association
Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada
The Dartmouth Community Concert Association is an organization of volunteers dedicated to providing outstanding musical performances for our community and beyond. In 2010-2011, the DCCA, founded in 1957, marks its 53rd anniversary and thus continues into a second half-century of presenting a variety of high quality concerts.
Our 2010-2011 season promises to be both excellent and eclectic entertainment. The Nova Scotia Youth Choir, conducted by Diane Loomer, in celebration of its twentieth year, opens the season on October 3, 2010 with a Sunday afternoon concert that is assured to be an exceptional choral event. Then, on the evening of November 26, 2010, the Pentaèdre Wind Quintet, which forms a “unique musical ensemble in the Canadian landscape”, will offer a refreshing and diversified chamber music program. The duo of Anne-Julie Caron (marimba) and Marie-Eve Scarfone (piano), appear on the evening of March 4, 2011 and will present the sensitivity, depth, and wide spectrum of tonal colors of the marimba, supported and complemented by a masterful pianist. Finally, on April 15, 2011 , there will be a “Welcome home” for Pamela MacDonald, a very talented mezzo soprano with a varied and intriguing repertoire, who will provide another concert with very broad appeal in the Community Concert tradition.
So, it looks promising and, if you are not yet a member of DCCA, please consider becoming one. (A tip: At the opening concert on October 3, you can apply the cost of your admission ticket to that concert toward the price of a membership for the entire year.)
On behalf of the Board of Directors, welcome to our 53rd Anniversary Season!
Murray Angus, President
