The Canada Council for the Arts has acclaimed the Elora Festival Singers as “one of the finest chamber choirs in Canada”. Founded by Noel Edison in 1980 as the principal vocal ensemble for the Elora Festival, the choir's activities include a popular Winter Series in Elora, Toronto and Guelph, plus touring across Canada, the United States (most recently in 2007 to Carnegie Hall in New York as part of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir), as well as recording regularly.

This will be an outstanding and unusual concert. Alexander Sevastian is the three-time winner of the International Accordion Competition. Born in Minsk, he began accordion studies at the age of seven. He has had a simply outstanding career as a member of the distinguished Quartetto Gelato, and on international solo tours. Now a Canadian citizen, he lives in Toronto. He performs a wide variety of musical styles drawn from the works of many composers, as well as folk music.

Alexander Sevastian

Born in Halifax, Marc Djokic began violin studies with his father, Phillippe Djokic, at age six. At twelve, he performed at the G-7 Summit in Halifax. He has an impressive list of awards; he was the first winner of the Debut Atlantic RBC Award, and was honoured with the Governor General’s Millennium Award in 2000.


New Brunswick-born Acadian pianist Julien Leblanc is Artist in Residence at UNB and teaches piano at the University of Moncton. In 2002, he was awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year prize by the New Brunswick Arts Foundation. Julien has studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Glenn Gould School in Toronto. He has won praise for his interpretation of Romantic composers.

Only twenty-one, he has already won international acclaim. He has been described as having “a monumental technique wed to a powerful, incisive, and informed musical intelligence”. He is currently at the Julliard School in New York. He has performed with the Toronto and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras and has presented numerous solo recitals.
