Claire Ahern began playing flute at age 11. She began to seriously pursue her music studies at age 17, and is currently in her fourth year of a Bachelor of Music Performance at Dalhousie University under the instruction of Patricia Creighton, Principal Flute for Symphony Nova Scotia. Claire is honoured to be the recipient of various music scholarships and awards, including receiving funding from the Nova Scotia Talent Trust.
In the summer of 2015, Claire won first place in regional and provincial music festivals and represented Nova Scotia in the woodwind category of the National Music Festival. In March of 2016, Claire performed as a soloist with the Dalhousie Orchestra as a winner of the Concerto Night Competition. She is grateful to have received funding from the Fountain School of Performing Arts to attend Domaine Forget and Orford Music during the summer of 2016.
